Altaussee Lake Circular Hiking Trail
The popular circular hiking trail around Lake Altaussee in the Austrian Salzkammergut is about 7.5 kilometers long and not only lacks major inclines but is also considered an extremely comfortable hike due to the many benches around the lake. At the same time, the breathtaking Alpine nature can be fully enjoyed. The circular trail leads largely directly along the magnificent mountain lake, frequently offering a beautiful panoramic view with the peaks in the background. The splendid wooded lakeshore invites you to linger, and in summer there is always the opportunity to swim in the lake.
Tour through the Koppenwinkel
The starting point for the tour through the Koppenwinkel is Obertraun. The path leads from the parking lot of the Obertraun Dachstein Caves past the Catholic church to the Höhenweg No. 1. The tour initially runs through the Sarstein Forest and continues to the Traun Bridge. A detour to the idyllic Koppenbrüller Cave is worthwhile. Here you can see how the water flows within the Dachstein Mountains. In suitable weather, the rushing sounds like roaring. Those who fancy a break can stop at the Gasthof Koppenrast. Via the Koppenwinklalm, you reach the Hagen and Bühlerbach. Along the Traun, it goes back.
From the Reiteralm to the Spiegelsee
With the 8-seater gondola lift Preundegg Jet, you can comfortably reach the starting point of the tour. From the mountain station, the trail leads along hiking path No. 66 past the Reiteralm Lake through a wooded area. After about 45 minutes of walking, you reach the Spiegelsee. Actually, this romantic mountain lake is called Gasslsee. In good weather, you can see the reflection of the Dachstein South Face on the smooth water surface. Just a few minutes from the Spiegelsee, another natural wonder awaits you with the Obersee. The body of water, located between the peaks of Rippeteck and Schober, was formed during the Ice Age.
Hike Silberkarklamm
The tour through the Silberkarklamm is part of the Wilde Wasser hiking trails, which lead to the most beautiful flowing waters in the region around Schladming. The tour starts at the Silberkarklamm parking lot. Steps lead deep into the narrow valley, which has served as a filming location for various TV series. The sound of the Silberkarbach accompanies you during the tour. Directly in the gorge, the 10-meter-high Torbach waterfall can be seen. On the right side, the approximately 70-meter-high Schleier waterfall cascades into the gorge. The Silberkarhütte takes care of culinary well-being, where organic products are used for cooking.
Turracher 3 Lakes Trail
On the 3-Lake Hiking Trail on the Turracher Höhe, you are accompanied by the breathtaking scent of pine forests. The start is high up on the Turracher Höhe. You start at the Turracher See and admire the exhibition of rare mountain crystals along the way. The Green Lake is aptly named. The tour is designed as a "Path of the Senses." Along the route, you can experience nature with all your senses at engaging stations. Hikers often pause at the Schwarzsee and enjoy the view of the Eisenhut. You return on walkways that lead over a mystical high moor.
6-Lake Hiking Trail in Styria
The lakes of the Tauplitzalm are located at an altitude of around 1,650 meters. You can explore the highest lake plateau in Central Europe on the 6-lake hike. In spring and summer, the paths are lined with purple alpine roses, blue gentians, and wild thyme. The Tauplitz cable cars provide a comfortable ascent to the starting point. The Krallersee is just one of the dark moor lakes that create a mystical atmosphere on the Tauplitzalm. A stop at the Steirersee-Bankerl viewpoint is worthwhile to enjoy the magnificent view of the Sturzhahn. The Hollhaus is a good place to stop for a break. Here, you can find warming soups and other classic hut dishes.
Teichalm Circuit with Moor Nature Trail
If you want to get to know the Teichalm in all its glory, the round trip with a detour to the moor nature trail is ideal. It starts at the wooden ox on the Teichalm, the landmark of the region. You walk over lush pastures to the Harrerhütte inn, where cheese bread and buttermilk, among other things, taste excellent. After stopping at the rustic inn, the tour continues to the Teichalm lake. You circle it during the hike. The moor nature trail concludes the tour. You walk through the natural wonder on larch planks. A viewing platform offers a unique insight into the fauna. Information boards provide details about the species in the moor.
Kesselfall Gorge
The Rötschbach, a small river only 16 kilometers long, makes its way through the gorge. Its path leads through a lush forest landscape between towering rocks. Sometimes the river flows gently, sometimes it cascades down the rugged rocks in an impressive waterfall, offering fantastic photo opportunities. The hiking tour through the Kesselfall Gorge measures around 2.5 kilometers and overcomes approximately 200 meters in elevation. Plan for 1.5 to 2 hours for the route. It leads up over 2,000 steps and rungs, sometimes along adventurous walkways along the rock walls and sometimes on bridges from one side of the river to the other.
