Krimml Waterfalls

Not far from the small Upper Pinzgau village of Krimml, the Krimml Waterfalls attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Salzburg region every year. At the end of the Achen Valley, their roaring masses of water plunge 380 meters down over three tiers. The Krimmler Ache forms the origin of the waterfalls. You can learn even more interesting facts at a specially set up information point. The most breathtaking view of the Krimml Waterfalls opens up to you on a tour along the serpentine waterfall path. With its platforms and viewpoints, it brings you very close to the wet natural spectacle. In addition, there is an interactive exhibition in the House of Water and a waterfall center including the projection show Aquaszenarium.

A cave tour through the Eisriesenwelt in Werfen is an unparalleled experience. The show cave is accessible from May to October and can be visited with a guided tour. The cable car ride and subsequent hike to the cave entrance is already an adventure. With hand lamps, you enter through a monumental portal into the icy glittering world. The Eisriesenwelt extends over a length of 42 kilometers, of which about 1 kilometer is accessible to visitors via paths and hundreds of steps. Like in a wintry parallel world, the temperatures in the cave remain below freezing even in summer. In return, the gigantic ice formations offer a heartwarming spectacle.

Green Lake

The Green Lake in Tragöß-Sankt Katharein is not called the "Caribbean of the Alps" for nothing. The best time to visit the Green Lake is in spring. That's when the snowmelt fills the basin of the karst lake. The 6°C cold water makes meadows, benches, and hiking trails disappear as if by magic. Even in autumn and winter, when the water is only 1−2 meters deep, the snow-covered valley presents itself as a picture-book landscape. Peace and a wild romantic atmosphere fill the place. At the parking lot, you will find a picturesque cross-country ski trail. You can rent equipment at the hut.

Crystal-clear water basins reflect the rock formations and create an especially dreamy backdrop. From April to October, you can participate in guided tours through the Katerloch stalactite cave.
