Our Lady of Consolation
The construction of the impressive church began in 1607. However, the church was rebuilt several times in the following centuries and later fell into ruin. Its current form dates from the early 20th century and is considered an important cultural heritage in Altea. As you stroll around the church, take a look at the architecture, which is influenced by Neoclassicism and Modernism. Inside, you will find Baroque decoration, with the wooden figures and golden flowers being particularly noteworthy.
Seafront Promenade Viewpoint
With the Mediterranean in the background, the Sierra Helada Natural Park at the right end of the beach, and the famous Peñon de Ifach to the left, the Mirador Paseo Maritimo offers one of the best views of the Alicante coast. A walk along the promenade to the viewpoint can be wonderfully combined with a visit to the surrounding bars and restaurants that leave nothing to be desired. A stroll through the historic cobblestone streets of Altea is also recommended.
Marqués de Montemolar Estate
The Finca Marqués de Montemolar was built in 1924 by the architect Francisco Mora for the Marquis de Montemolar when he visited Altea. From the Marquis viewpoint, visitors overlook the Bay of Altea, and from the esplanade, the view sweeps over Altea's old town. Typical of a 19th-century recreational finca, this one also features a spacious courtyard suitable for dancing. In the almond grove of the estate, atmospheric cocktail receptions take place with views of the sea and the surrounding mountains.
La Roda Beach
At the expansive Playa La Roda, you can still find a quiet spot to enjoy the sun even from June to August. In summer, the thermometer shows over 30°C. The turquoise-blue Mediterranean then offers a well-deserved refreshment. The nearest parking spaces are just a few meters from the beach. At Playa La Roda, sun loungers and umbrellas can be rented. Right on the promenade, you will find numerous shopping opportunities and restaurants to refresh yourself in between.
Espigó Beach
The kilometer-long beach consists of a mixture of sand and pebbles and enchants you with particularly clear water. The turquoise-blue Mediterranean invites you to swim, but also to dive and snorkel, especially in the warm and sunny summer months. From Platja de l'Espigó, you are quickly at the nearby bistros and restaurants as well as shopping opportunities along the promenade. In the high season, sunshades and deck chairs can be rented. Active vacationers will find several water sports providers nearby.
Mouth of the Algar River
The mouth of the Riu Algar is one of the most popular destinations for nature lovers, active vacationers, and hikers. Discover the varied river course on foot or by bike and make a stop at the many locations used for bird watching. In addition to the laid-out paths, the mouth of the Riu Algar is completely untouched and natural.
