Galatrona Tower
The Torre di Galatrona in the Italian municipality of Bucine was originally part of a castle with two defensive towers in Tuscany. Today, however, only one tower remains, which nevertheless makes an impressive impression. The eventful history of the defensive tower with its former castle can be well understood thanks to the multimedia tour on five floors. Once at the top, the spectacular panoramic view over the region provides another impression of the former significance of the tower.
Saint John the Baptist at Petrolo
Bucine is located in the heart of Tuscany south of Florence and has about 10,000 inhabitants. The church of San Giovanni Battista a Petrolo was first mentioned in documents in the year 774, making it one of the oldest buildings in the small town. Inside the church, visit the altars from the 17th century and the elaborately decorated decorations on the walls. Some of the artworks date back to the Middle Ages and are still very well preserved today.
Cennina Castle
The medieval castle was built as early as 1167 and was inhabited for several centuries. In the meantime, the structure has fallen into ruin, but it still offers a variety of spectacular photo opportunities. Many of them can be reached on your own without any problems. The citadel in the heart of the castle is considered a landmark. Walk around the Castle of Cennina and take a look at the church on the north side. From there, you can also enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the landscapes of Tuscany.
Brolio Castle
The Castello di Brolio is located in the famous wine-growing region of Chianti in the Italian region of Tuscany. It not only blends idyllically into the stunning natural setting but also houses magnificent gardens from the Neo-Renaissance. Inside the castle, in addition to the Chapel of San Jacopo and the family crypt of the Ricasoli family, there is also a small museum. This includes an interesting collection of antique weapons as well as historical items and documents from Bettino Ricasoli.
Montozzi Castle
The elegant castle is owned by the Bartolini Baldelli family and can only be viewed from the outside. The Castello di Montozzi includes the Church of Saints Martin and Lucia, which was built in the early 18th century. Particularly charming is the terraced castle garden. Guests can purchase local delicacies in the castle's own shop or even rent a holiday apartment in the Castello di Montozzi. Some of the most beautiful cities in Tuscany are easily accessible by car.
Paleontological Museum
The museum is usually open from Thursday to Sunday, both in the morning and in the afternoon. The changing exhibitions connect cultural heritage with current society and provide insights into the past. In the Museo Paleontologico, you will find numerous discoveries from past millennia and thus learn a lot about different eras. However, paleontology not only provides information about dinosaurs in Tuscany but also looks into the future of the Earth.
