Asti - Must-see attractions
Sellapass
The Sellajoch, located at 2,218 m, connects Selva di Val Gardena with Canazei in the Fassa Valley and is the most famous Dolomite pass. The winding road invites you to a breathtaking drive through rugged rock walls and green valleys. The Sella Pass region attracts with many outdoor activities. Rustic mountain inns pamper you with local specialties after a ski, hike, bike, or cycling tour. Summer guests marvel at the car race Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti. In winter, the Sella Pass is connected to the Dolomiti Superski cooperative.
Marmolada
The 3,343 m high Marmolada is a mountaineering challenge. Since parts of the glacier broke off on the normal route, the mountain can only be reached on a strenuous day tour with 1,300 m of ascent and descent and is only recommended for experienced alpinists. At the summit, a shelter, the Capanna Punta Penia, offers mountaineers refuge and the highest overnight accommodation in the Dolomites. In winter, the Marmolada around the mountain village of Arabba with its ski lifts is a popular glacier ski area with 60 kilometers of slopes and rustic huts.
Belvedere-Pordoi Pass
Hikers, mountaineers, and mountain bikers will find well-marked trails around Belvedere-Pordoi Pass. A moderate path leads from the Belvedere mountain station via the Bindelweg to Lake Fedaia, offering spectacular panoramic views of the majestic Dolomite peaks to the horizon. In winter, the Belvedere-Pordoi Pass, at an altitude of 1,460 to 2,950 meters, transforms into a true winter paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Around 30 kilometers of excellently groomed slopes and 23 modern lift facilities attract winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world.
Val di Fassa
The mountain village of Canazei is an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain bike tours through the Fassa Valley. The peaks of the Sella, Langkofel, and Marmolata are suitable for challenging tours. In Canazei, the Ladin dialect is spoken. The Fassa Valley is part of the Dolomiti Superski carousel, which includes seven ski areas. 80 lift facilities ensure a comfortable ascent to the mountain. The most famous ski circuit in South Tyrol also runs through the Fassa Valley: the Sellaronda delights passionate skiers.
Alba Ciampac
From Alba di Canazei, Alba Ciampac can be reached by cable car or ski bus, which operates from Christmas to April. 9 kilometers of slopes offer challenges for both beginners and advanced skiers. The highlight is the 2.2 km long Ciampac slope with a 28 percent gradient. Children can look forward to the snow playground and the ski school. Snowboarders are drawn to the snow park, cross-country skiers to the 3 km cross-country trails. From several sun terraces, you can admire the Dolomite peaks of the Sella group and the famous Marmolada during ski breaks.
Fedaia Reservoir
At an altitude of about 2,050 meters, a peaceful atmosphere spreads in the fresh mountain air of the Dolomites. At the shore of the Fedaia reservoir, you can enjoy nature. For more action, you can also rent boats and glide across the lake. Another attraction near the Fedaia reservoir is the cable car that takes you to the summit of the Marmolada, the highest peak of the Dolomites. From there, you have a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountain landscape.
