North Sea - The most beautiful cities
Cuxhaven
In the far north of Lower Saxony, Cuxhaven is both a North Sea spa town and an Elbe city. In front of its gates lies the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea. You can learn about its animal and plant life during hikes and in the exhibitions at the informative Wadden Sea Visitor Center. The old harbor of Cuxhaven, where fishing boats sway on the water, is also a discovery. A harbor tour is fun, as is a walk along Cuxhaven's beautiful beach promenade. The Alte Liebe viewing platform is ideal for ship-watching. Architecture enthusiasts are drawn to the brick Ritzebüttel Castle. Norddeich
Norddeich, as a district of Norden, is located directly on the North Sea coast and has been a state-recognized North Sea spa since 1979. From the Norddeich Mole, ferries depart for Norderney and Juist. Here is also the harbor from which fishing boats set out daily for their catch. The beautiful beach promenade invites you to stroll. Other highlights of Norddeich include the fine sandy beach, the seal rescue station, and the Ocean Wave adventure pool. Husum
The North Sea Cycle Route runs through Husum. You can take a break here and admire the crocuses in the castle park of Husum Castle in spring. Due to its location at the Wadden Sea National Park, you can take a mudflat hike from the Husum Bay and discover this unique habitat. Numerous museums bring visitors closer to the history and customs of North Frisia. These include, of course, the Theodor Storm House, dedicated to the famous poet, as well as the Maritime Museum and the North Sea Museum. Sankt Peter Ording
Five beaches stretching over twelve kilometers, up to two kilometers wide, make Sankt Peter Ording a resort of superlatives. Here you can bask and relax undisturbed in the fine, white sand.
