On the French Côte d'Azur, a few kilometers southwest of Toulon, lies the seaside resort of Six-Fours. Its unusual name refers to six historical fortifications. In addition to interesting buildings, holidaymakers can expect numerous beautiful beaches, diving spots, and canoe rentals. Sailors and surfers find ideal conditions thanks to the frequently blowing Mistral wind.

Fort of Six-Fours

The Fort of Six-Fours, built in the 19th century, overlooks the Mediterranean coast, especially Toulon and its famous harbor. With a height of 210 meters, this fort is worth a look and ideal for a family outing. This hike takes you through a forest path. Today, the fort is a communication center for the navy and cannot be visited.

Embiez Island

The hilly island is the largest island in the Embiez archipelago. In the past, sea salt was harvested on the Île des Embiez, but today the island is a popular holiday destination. The island is accessible by ferry from Le Brusc and Sanary. In 1958, the spirits magnate Paul Ricard bought the Île des Embiez and had it developed into a holiday paradise. Ricard still plays an important role in the life of the island: his birthday on July 9th is celebrated festively.

Beach of Bonnegrâce

Plage de Bonnegrâce is located in the small community of Six Fours on the popular Côte d'Azur in France. It consists of fine, light pebbles and gently slopes into the water, promising bathing fun and relaxation. Additionally, at the end of the beach towards La Coudoulière, there are great surfing opportunities due to the good wind and wave conditions. Alongside the good infrastructure with changing rooms and toilets, several restaurants ensure a successful beach day.

Le Brusc

The fishing village of Le Brusc exudes a cozy charm on the Côte d'Azur. The main beach, Plage du Cros, is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, or water sports activities. Gaou Island

Cride Point

At the Pointe de la Cride, you will find a few small pebble beaches and wild nature. It is almost always deserted here, and the view over the sparkling sea is beautiful. The old fortress is not accessible. The promenade runs close to the water and offers enchanting panoramas. You can reach Sanary on foot in about 40 minutes. Take a break in Parc Victroin Blanc and follow Avenue Frédéric Mistral.

Beautiful excursion destination: Cascade de Sillans

By car, you can reach the Cascade de Sillans waterfall after a nearly 90 km drive northeast from Six-Fours-les-Plages. From the parking lot, a hike under trees leads you to the natural wonder, which pours 44 meters deep into the beautifully blue shimmering basin. There are swimming spots by the clear river.

Early Christian sacred building: Chapel of Our Lady of Pepiole

Only 5.2 km north of the center in Six-Fours-les-Plages, you will discover the lovingly restored Chapelle Notre Dame de Pepiole. The well-preserved Romanesque structure made of fieldstones dates back to the Merovingian period from the 5th to 6th century and is one of France's oldest church buildings. On Sundays, you can attend Mass here and admire the stained glass windows.

Excursion to the Îles du Gaou

The Îles du Grand et Petit Gaou, accessible via pedestrian bridges off the coast of Six-Fours-les-Plages, are worth a visit. The nature reserve invites you to a 2.3 km circular hike with a botanical nature trail through the Mediterranean landscape. The Brusc Lagoon is popular as a swimming and diving area with wonderfully clear water.

Bathing pleasures at Le Brusc Beach

Just a few kilometers southwest of Six-Fours-les-Plages lies Le Brusc beach in a sheltered bay. The pebble beach offers space for sunbathing, while the turquoise water invites you to swim. There are good surfing conditions here, and you can rent SUPs and kayaks. Restaurants cater to the guests' culinary needs.

Day 1

At the sun-drenched Côte d'Azur, you spend the best time of the year in Six-Fours-les-Plages. The community is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea. It is primarily the spectacular coast that attracts guests. A visit to the beach is therefore a must on the first day of vacation. Expansive beach bays with sand/pebble beaches await you here, as well as wild and romantic beach sections with rugged rocky coasts. Several small islands stretch off the coast of Six-Fours-les-Plages. One of the most beautiful is the Île du Grand Rouveau, where the lighthouse Phare du Grand-Rouveau stands. A canoe or kayak is required to reach the small island. This is a great adventure for the whole family, crowned by bathing fun in wonderful tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the main beaches of Six-Fours-les-Plages. The island is also a little insider tip among diving enthusiasts and is perfect for exploring the colorful underwater world on the Mediterranean coast.

Day 2

On day 2, discover the scenic beauty of Six-Fours-les-Plages. The resort's islands include the Île des Embiez. It is the largest island and well-developed for tourism. Ferries cross from the mainland of Six-Fours-les-Plages to the island in just a few minutes, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts. The coastal hiking trail takes you around the island for about 4 km and is also suitable for hiking trips with children. From rugged coasts to small beaches, the path delights with its scenic diversity and definitely offers charming picnic opportunities along the way. On the mainland, the small forest La Forêt de Janas in the hinterland is a wonderful destination for relaxing walks, appealing in every season. The hilly landscape with its shady pines repeatedly offers fantastic panoramic views of the Mediterranean as a highlight.

Day 3

The third day is all about family fun. Action-packed and definitely fast-paced, a visit to the go-kart track Karting Six Four is a must. Adventure and action-packed fun are also guaranteed at Coudou Parc. This is a climbing park not far from the coast, where various high rope courses require a head for heights for young and old, beginners and experienced climbers alike. Zip lines and wobbly suspension bridges between the trees complement the climbing fun. The family day continues on the beach with building the most beautiful sandcastle in all of Six-Fours-les-Plages or collecting beautiful stones and shells as souvenirs of a successful holiday. The sporty ones try windsurfing, for which the resort is a popular spot on the Côte d'Azur. On the western coast of Six-Fours-les-Plages, you are in the right place in the evening to watch the sun slowly set over the Mediterranean with the whole family.
