Island Fur
Fur is a tranquil island where you are in the right place for a relaxing nature vacation. Natural beaches all around the island, expansive dune landscapes, and a very rural island interior with many opportunities for extensive bike tours make up the charm of Fur. Fur delights with its scenic diversity. On the north coast, majestic cliffs await you, dropping steeply into the sea and offering fantastic photo opportunities. Those who want to learn more about the island's particularly geologically fascinating history should plan a visit to Fur's nature-oriented museum during their vacation.
The National Park
Bronze Age burial mounds and World War II bunkers can be found in the national park, as well as seemingly endless nature. In the Hanstholm wildlife reserve, you can observe numerous water birds up close. In the Tved Dune Plantation, a birdwatching tower has been specially erected for ornithology enthusiasts. Also worth seeing are the mighty Hanstholm lighthouse and the listed Lodbjerg lighthouse. From both towers, you have a fantastic view over the national park and the sea. In summer, the bathing area at Lake Nors with its beautiful sandy beach invites the whole family to swim.
Råbjerg Mile
The massive migrating dune Råbjerg Mile is located in the far north of Denmark, covers about 2 km², and reaches a height of 40 m. It is referred to as a small desert and offers an impressive landscape of sand hills like in the Sahara – without the disadvantages of a real desert such as heat. The migrating dune near Skagen is a popular destination for hikers and also for families. It moves about 15 meters northeast every year. In addition to hiking tours through the desert nature, kite flying is very popular here. The constant wind creates ideal conditions for it.
Rebild National Park
Rebild National Park is located in the north of Denmark in North Jutland near the small town of Rebild. It is surrounded by the beautiful Rold Forest and enchants with a varied landscape of hills, heath, and forest. Several particularly beautiful hiking trails run through the area. Several of these routes can also be used by mountain bikers. The Rebild Bakker Route, awarded by the German Hiking Institute as one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Denmark, leads through impressive old forests and open heathlands with great views over the Ravnkilde spring biotope. At the end of the route, there is a restaurant for refreshment and the Hunting and Forestry Museum.
Møns Cliff
The massive chalk cliff Møns Klint is located on the Danish Baltic Sea island of Møns in the South Zealand region. The gigantic limestone wall reaches a height of up to 128 meters and is about 6 km long. Numerous great hiking trails lead here between the forests and the sea along the breathtaking steep coast. In addition to the dreamlike view during the day, Møns Klint also offers a breathtaking view at night in the GeoCenter with the Dark Sky Møn and Nyord. Møns Klint is one of the few places where the night sky can be observed in complete darkness – offering an unforgettable starry sky.
Rold Forest
The Rold Forest is located in the Danish region of North Jutland and forms the largest forest area in the country. Here, various natural landscapes can be admired, such as river valleys, springs, moors, and lakes, or chalk pits and burial mounds. The sections Troldeskoven and Urskoven are true natural forests characterized by 300-year-old beeches. In addition to the diversity of trees and plants, many animals inhabit the forest. Foxes, badgers, deer, and red deer can often be spotted. The best times for this are early morning or dusk. Additionally, there are numerous cultural monuments in the forest area, such as the megalithic tomb Stenstuen.
Svanninge Hills
Affectionately, Svanninge Bakken is also called "the Funen Alps." This designation is owed to the region's hilly topography and the forest area. On the sun-drenched southern slope, you can admire up to 125 plant species. Here, mushrooms, mosses, and fragrant herbs sprout, among others. Lizards, snakes, and slow worms have a habitat here. Swanninge Bakke is an eldorado for hiking. If you want to get an overview of the nature eldorado, climb the 18-meter-high observation tower, built in 1935. Right next to it, a restaurant invites you to stop by. A secret tip for families is the nature playground of Gåsebjerg Sand.
Bulbjerg
The Bulbjerg in the north of Jutland in the Jammer Bay is an impressive limestone cliff 47 meters high. Due to its location in a relatively flat environment, it stands particularly majestically in the air. It is also the only bird cliff in Jutland and serves as a breeding ground for rather selective gull species such as the kittiwake. Due to its beautiful location and magnificent view, the Bulbjerg is not only a popular excursion destination but also part of spectacular hiking routes. These lead along the beautiful coast with its long sandy beaches and wild dunes, but also through magnificent forests. From the Bulbjerg, there is also a popular circular route.
Denmark - Climate
Denmark has a temperate climate and in summer it is pleasantly mild. Those who want to engage in sports activities and venture into the water should travel between June and August. During this time, daytime temperatures average 20°C and the water warms up to about 18 to 19°C. Thus, the conditions are ideal for surfing, sailing, and kiting. In spring and autumn, windbreakers should not be missing. The thermometer then shows between 8 and 15°C. Sometimes the values can also be lower. The winter days are characterized by a lot of rain and temperatures just above freezing.
