Great America

Velka Amerika is located about an hour's drive from Prague. The former quarry is situated in the Bohemian Karst. Kilometers of tunnels connect Velka Amerika with other nearby quarries. Today, however, it is no longer used for limestone extraction but for recreation in nature. Where limestone was once mined, a 200 m long, 100 m wide, and up to 18 m deep lake has formed. Although the crystal-clear water is tempting, swimming is not allowed. There is a parking lot from where you can reach viewpoints and enjoy the view over the paradise.

Böhmisches Paradies

Czech Paradise

Mystical castles, deep pine forests, and the famous rock formations between Jičín and Železný Brod characterize the landscape of Český ráj. The raw power of nature has produced sandstone formations up to 60 meters high. They bear resonant names like Kapellmeister, Dragon's Tooth, and Baton and offer impressive photo opportunities. The best way to explore the Czech Paradise is on a hike. For example, narrow paths through the Prachov Rocks lead to scenic viewpoints. The romantic atmosphere is spread by Hrubá Skála Castle. It sits atop a rock and offers you fantastic views over the town of the same name and the forested landscape with its sandstone formations.

Punkva Höhlen

Punkva Cave

Guided tours bring you closer to the beauty of the Punkva Cave. First, you walk through the mighty dome rooms adorned with stalagmites and stalactites, down to the bottom of the Macocha Gorge. Eerie legends surround the largest gorge of its kind in Central Europe, which will be shared with you. Two viewing platforms offer a view from above into the gorge, whose lush greenery captivates visitors. The highlight of the tour is the romantic boat ride on the underground Punkva River. During this, you pass through the Masaryk Dome, considered the most beautiful dome room in the cave.

Reschener Wasserfälle

Rešov Waterfall

At this natural wonder, torrents of water burst forth from the rock and cascade down into a small natural basin. After a hike to the village of Rešov, you can fully enjoy this attraction. The route is relatively easy to manage and is well-suited for families with children. The waterfall near Rešov is freely accessible and is formed by the Huntava stream. It winds through narrow gorges and is framed by fragrant beech forests. Looking up, the majestic rock walls are revealed to you. It is best to visit the waterfall in the summer.

Mazochaschlucht Stiefmutterschlucht

Macocha Gorge

The collapse of a cave dome in the Punkva Cave gave rise to the Macocha Gorge. It is an eye-catcher not only because of its size but especially because of its mystically green nature. A viewing platform at the highest point of the gorge and one at 92 meters offer you spectacular views into the gorge. Legends say that the Macocha Gorge is supposed to be bottomless.
